A Year of Listening, Planning, and Action

Over the past year, Stone County residents shared their ideas, rolled up their sleeves, and worked together to imagine what’s possible to make Stone County an even better place to live, work, raise a family, and grow older. What began as conversations about the county’s biggest priorities has grown into a community-wide opportunity to make positive change for everyone.

Through interviews, surveys, and conversations across the county in 2025, residents identified three priorities they wanted to work on together: supporting access to affordable housing, conservation and protecting water quality, and creating more gathering spaces.

From there, Our Stone County connected with people through community events, surveys, priority area Action Teams, and one-on-one conversations. Residents, community leaders, businesses, nonprofits, and local partners came together around the shared priorities and began exploring what could be done about them.

In July 2026, the planning process reached an important milestone. Action Team members joined technical experts to combine all of the ideas to address those shared priorities, and evaluated their 204 potential project ideas based on cost, timeline, complexity, and opportunities for collaboration.

Those ideas now form the Action Plan for housing, water, and community spaces. The plan includes ideas for preserving existing homes and expanding housing choices, protecting waterways, strengthening parks and trails, revitalizing town centers, and investing in the places where community life happens.

And on September 24, we’re bringing everyone together to celebrate the Action Plan at the Our Stone County Community Shindig.

At the Shindig, residents can celebrate everything they have accomplished together, preview many of the projects, and learn what happens next.

Join us anytime from 4–7 p.m. at New Testament Christian Church, 21016 Main Street in Reeds Spring. There will be free food, giveaways, games, kids’ activities, local organizations to meet, and plenty of time to visit with neighbors.

Come see what your ideas have helped create, and celebrate where Stone County goes from here.
