Our Stone County Awards Funding to Nine Local Organizations
$19,617 will go toward projects that strengthen community in the county
STONE COUNTY, Mo. — Our Stone County is proud to announce recipients of its most recent round of community mini-grants. Nine county organizations will receive a combined $19,617 for projects that create gathering spaces for people to spend time together, increase access to affordable housing, and improve public safety and water resources.
Through a competitive grant process, these community groups were selected to receive funding for projects that reflect the organization’s mission of ensuring that “Stone County remains a place people are proud to call home for generations.”
This year’s grant recipients include:
Buttermilk Spring Community Center Association, Community Activities: Ongoing activities for residents to gather and build community while learning a new skill or craft.
City of Crane,Water Infrastructure Asset Mapping Initiative: Equipment to begin creating a comprehensive GIS inventory of the City's water distribution system.
DD Highway Community Center, Community Gathering and Center Improvements: Hosted picnic and social gathering for neighbors and friends to build community, center improvements and supplies for future events.
Kimberling Area Library Association, Growing Readers: Children’s Garden Signage Upgrade: Expand educational, wayfinding, and interactive signage in the Kimberling Area Library Children’s Garden to create a cohesive, literacy-rich outdoor learning environment.
Lakes of Missouri Volunteer Program, Water Testing Funding: Support volunteers tracking the effects of non-point source pollution in monitoring ongoing trends to improve water quality.
Praise and Worship Lutheran Church, Block Party: Free community block party designed to bring families together while building relationships and connecting residents with local resources.
Stone County Health Department: New Hach Colorimeter to replace outdated portable lab equipment for testing water quality throughout Stone County.
Village of Blue Eye, Pickleball Equipment: Purchaseof pickleball equipment for use in newly built pickleball courts for community recreation and gathering.
Village of Indian Point, Village of Indian Point Greenspace: Initial equipment and materials including benches for seating, tables, and landscaping materials for development of new community gathering space.
“Our Stone County’s mini-grant program is designed to support community-driven initiatives that make Stone County stronger and that are implemented by Stone County residents,” said Sarah Moody, Coalition Manager for Our Stone County. “These projects reflect the creativity, compassion, and commitment of local organizations working to improve the quality of life for residents of all ages.”
