The ‘Our Stone County Action Plan’ will be released on November 9, 2026, introducing a 10-year roadmap for investing in Stone County’s future.
The plan reflects months of community conversations, surveys, and collaboration among residents, businesses, local governments, and nonprofit organizations. Together, they identified three shared priorities for the county: expanding access to affordable housing, protecting water quality and ensuring reliable water infrastructure, and creating welcoming places for people to gather and connect.
What makes this plan different is its focus on action and starting now. The Action Plan outlines 38 projects designed to address these priorities, from immediate improvements that can begin in 2027 to larger investments that will shape Stone County for generations to come.
Rather than waiting years to see results, implementation begins with quicker projects that directly benefit residents, such as free residential well testing, downtown improvements, and direct financial assistance for housing expenses. These early steps prepare Stone County for larger investments in affordable housing, trails, regional parks, stormwater infrastructure, and other community facilities.
